If you’re wondering why we decided to make this line of merch…. As girls and women, we are all conditioned to speak negatively of one another. Conditioned to see other women as competition and the winning medium is to bring them down. Most of us are capable of going to that place where judgement of other women for individual choices and appearance seems so easy and almost the norm.
We’ve a suggestion. Instead of allowing this to be our norm, let’s stop, talk ourselves down with a stern word. We do not need to bring other girls and women down to better ourselves. This is an important message. It’s an important life lesson that I want my daughter to learn. I want my daughter to grow up and love who she is. I want her to love her friends, to support and accept them for who they are. I want her not see other girls as competition, for her to not bring them down or ridicule them for simply being different. I want her to question everything society dictates a girl should be. I want her to become an unforgiving, self-loving adult who takes no shit.
It’s not only my daughter that I want this for; I desire this for myself, for all the women in my life. Spreading positivity and love is the fundamental idea behind this line of merch. I want people who see these shirts and patches to question the way we, as a society, treat and educate girls and women. All girls and women, no matter what shape, size or colour.
